Seriously, it is one of THE easiest sewing projects. The hardest part to me is getting the fabric square. If you are looking for a quick, cheap project, give it a try!
Here is my latest blanket. Don't you just love the bright colors? The flannel is from Joann's. Oh, and of course I had to make a matching card.

The fabric is very cute, I have seen it in JoAnn's and you're right-- the picture doesn't do it justice.
